Multi-dimensional artist, Taryn Manning re-ignites her musical flame with the release of a new single, "The Light"-out today. The single arrives alongside a remix EP, courtesy of dancefloor-primed cuts, courtesy of Lodato, Metrush, and Ant LaRock.
Currently known for her role as Tiffany "Pennsatucky" Doggett in the critically acclaimed NETFLIX series "Orange is the New Black", Taryn Manning has simultaneously spent years building and refining her musical career. Her 2017 single "GLTCHFE" peaked at #1 on the Billboard Dance charts and introduced her to an audience that extended beyond her work as a talented actress. "TheLight" marks her first release sinceand sees her explore with feelings ofself-defeat and finding the strength to overcome your internal battles. Backed by a liquid down tempo electro-pop instrumental, "The Light" climaxes into a chorus ridden with Manning's raw, emotion-packed vocals.
On the inspiration behind the track, Manning said, "I wrote the Light during a tough time in my life when I felt I had nowhere to turn. In life, periods of darkness will always be inevitable, but we are always given a choice-either stay in the light or surrender to the darkness. As the title suggests, I choose the light."
Her tireless work ethic and drive have landed her monumental roles on the big screen-Hustle & Flow (2005), Crossroads (2002), 8 Mile (2002)-as well as on the small screen: CSI- Miami, Sons of Anarchy, Law & Order: SVU but her first love is and always has been music. Coming from a family of musicians, a passion for music was embedded in her upon birth. Her active musical roots traceback to 2001, when she joined forces with her brother to form the trip-hop inspired band Boomkat (DreamWorks Records). Since then, she has proved to be a relentless force in the industry-a "triple-threat".
With the release of "The Light", Manning is continuing to prove her longevity within the industry not only as an actor and entertainer but as a musical force not to be reckoned with.
